- Turn off the climate control system.
- Open the front right-hand side door, then move the front right-hand side seat fully rearwards and remove the floor mat
- For vehicles manufactured as of approximately February 2025: working from top-to-bottom, carefully release the right-side panel from the center console.
- Carefully release the push clips (or magnets) that secure the front right-hand side footwell cover to the instrument panel. Then, while supporting the footwell cover, disconnect the two electrical connectors and move the footwell cover aside. a. For the light, carefully press down on the tab while releasing the connector. b. For the speaker, carefully angle the vehicle-side connector so that the small tab releases from the hole in the footwell cover-side connector while releasing the connector.
CAUTION:
To avoid damage, do not pull on the wires when disconnecting the connectors. When disconnecting the connectors, make sure to pull from the plastic on the connectors themselves.
- For vehicles manufactured prior to approximately February 2025: working from top-to-bottom, use a trim tool to carefully release the right side panel from the center console.
- Vehicles manufactured prior to February 2025 have a 6 mm screw that secures the cabin filter to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) module. Remove the screw, then release the cabin filter cover and move it aside. On some vehicles, tabs replace the 6 mm screw: use your index finger and thumb to squeeze the two tabs at the bottom of the cabin filter cover. Tilt the cover outward to remove.

For vehicles manufactured as of approximately February 2025, release the cabin filter cover by using your index finger and thumb to squeeze the two tabs at the bottom of the cabin filter cover. Tilt the cover outward to remove. - Fold the upper cabin filterβs pull tabs outward
- Holding the tabs on the upper cabin filter, pull the upper filter out from the HVAC module. Avoid the connectors near the cabin filter opening then holding the upper tab on the lower cabin filter, pull the lower filter upwards and then out from the HVAC module.
- Ensuring the yellow tap is on the top and the black side of the filter is facing the REAR of the vehicle, insert the lower cabin filter into the HVAC module and lower it into place. Then, insert the upper cabin filter above it.
- Fold the tabs inward so that the cabin filter cover can be installed.
- Vehicles manufactured prior to February 2025: Install the cabin filter cover by engaging the lower cover tab then securing the 6 mm screw. Tighten the screw to 1.2 Nm/0.89 ft-lbs (if equipped). On vehicles with tabs instead of a 6 mm screw: maneuver the top notch of the cabin filter cover into place, then secure the tabs at the bottom of the HVAC module. For vehicles without the screw, install the cabin filter cover by engaging the upper door tab and rotating down to engage the lower tab.
- Reconnect the two electrical connectors to the components in the front right-hand side footwell cover, then re-secure the cover with the push clips (or magnets).
- Align the right-side panel with the front and rear locator slots on the center console, then apply pressure until all of the clips are fully secure.
- Reinstall the floor mat then move the front seat of the right-hand side seat back into place.
- Reset the cabin air filter maintenance interval on your vehicle's maintenance summary
- Open the left front door and fully lower the left front window.
- Carefully use a small screwdriver or the pry tool to pry the puddle light out of the bottom of the left front door panel.
- Press down on the locking tab to disconnect the puddle light connector and then remove the light from the vehicle. CAUTION Do not pull the puddle lamp too far from the door panel, as the puddle lamp connector is still attached.
- Connect the electrical wiring harness to the ModelMate Puddle Light. Check to ensure puddle lights up.
NOTE
Once connected correctly, the Tesla Projection Light will turn on and display the Tesla logo. - After connecting the electrical wiring harness to the Tesla Puddle Light, ensure the βTeslaβ logo correctly projects on the floor before securing the Projection Light in place.
- Insert the ModelMate Puddle Light in the opening at the bottom of the door panel. Press upward firmly to ensure the Tesla Projection Light snaps securely into the door panel.
- Raise the left front window and close the left front door.
- Perform this procedure again on the other 3 doors.
